What this all comes down to is, everything else being equal, the focal point of the end phase is the Death Star. If the Rebels have been dominating the match and they, for example, own 90% of the planets, the Death Star isn't going to help at all. Of course, all of this is assuming that the Rebels' space strength is equal or lesser than the Empire's. All told, this means if the Empire controls the skies, and further stops blows up planets to stop the Rebels from defending themselves or making ground units, the Rebels will have no possible way to win. This means that it can be controlled, but it has no tactical benefit.Īlso remember that in the final phase, the Empire's ships are stronger than any ships the Rebellion can produce. If a planet is destroyed, that area, though it remains on the map, no longer produces many credits and cannot hold any ground buildings or units.
The reason for this is because, if the Death Star is built, then the Empire has one guaranteed way to win. The other is when the Death Star is built and becomes active. First, it's when one side or the other starts losing planet after planet and seems to be on the way to its demise.
